Sunday Countdown Activities
Russell M. Nelson is the Prophet today. But do you know the rest of the First Presidency and the 12 Apostles? Memorize their names in the correct order.
The creative songs in these youtube videos are a little out of date, but they still might help. Or trying making up your own.
Additional Activities
- The 6th Article of Faith tells us we have 12 Apostles today in the same manner Christ set up when He was on the earth. Learn, recite or sing The Sixth Article of Faith.
- Listen to President Russell M. Nelson’s message after becoming the Prophet.
- Listen to President Monson’s testimony.
Monday Countdown Activities
Read Helaman 13:2-3; 14:1-5; and 16:1-2 or watch the story about Samuel the Lamanite.
- What did Samuel and Nephi do?
- What do all Prophets do?
Additional Activity
- Sing or listen to “We Listen to a Prophet’s Voice”
Tuesday Countdown Activities
Prophets tell us things God wants us to know. Read Mosiah 2:1-2, 6-9, and 17-22 or watch the story of King Benjamin.
- What did King Benjamin teach his people?
- What are some other things Prophets teach?
- How have those things blessed and changed your life?
Additional Activities
- Watch or read a recent Conference talk from President Monson.
- In 2001 Elder Nelson said, “If the Lord were to speak to you, He would urge you to understand your identity—to know who you really are.” Watch “Our True Identity” by President Uchtdorf. Why would the Prophets speak about our identity? Why is understanding our identity so important?
Wednesday Countdown Activities
Watch this “Follow the Prophet” video about a group of kids hiking in the mountains.
- What is something the Prophet has taught that can protect us?
- How have you personally felt safety and protection by following the Prophet?
Additional Activity
- Watch “Stay within the Lines” by Elder Holland. Think about commandments that God has given us through the Prophet. How do the commandments keep us safe?
Thursday Countdown Activities
Listen to President Monson share an experience from his life in the video “Dare to Stand Alone.”
- How does this counsel from the Prophet help us in our life?
- How can you be true to what the Prophet has taught?
Additional Activity
- Consider ways you can improve your gospel understanding and make choices to better follow the Prophet. For ideas look in Faith in God (Learning and Living the Gospel section), Personal Progress (perhaps Choice & Accountability 6 or Knowledge 4) and Duty to God (Understand Doctrine sections).
Friday Countdown Activities
Watch “Give Thanks” by Elder Nelson.
- What difference does gratitude make?
- How can you give thanks to God for giving us a Prophet now?
Additional Activities
- Express gratitude for the Prophet in prayer. Pray for an open heart and mind to understand what the Lord wants you to understand while listening to the Prophets speak.
- Share with a friend or family member why the Prophet is important to you.
- We can show our gratitude for the Prophet by listening to and doing what he says. You could adapt this activity to use while listening to Conference. Print the labels from the activity. Cut and glue them to separate pieces of paper. When you hear things said in each of those categories, write them down on the appropriate paper. Afterward you’ll have a great list of things you can do to follow the Prophet.
